Can I help you?

- text files to data tables (Access, Paradox)
- text files to spreadsheets (Excel)
- spreadsheets (Excel) to data tables (Access, Paradox)
- definition of primary keys and secondary indexes
- splitting and merging of data tables (for optimum relationships)
- normalising of data (e.g. AV. or AVE. = AVENUE)

I have used Paradox (WordPerfect Office Professional), Access and SQL with Oracle databases to set up and manipulate data, and create complex reports.

If you think I may be of assistance, you can e-mail me (menter@dial.pipex.com) or
mail@microelectric.co.uk.

Basically what I have in mind here is to test the market. I will be happy to give advice or do small data conversion jobs for free; but, if there is too much demand or the job requires serious effort, then I would like to work out some method of payment for my services.

As a demonstration of my expertise (or lack of it) I have included here a Paradox application which I developed a few years ago. Quotation application

My Recommendations about data storage and processing

If your primary requirement is to put information on paper, use a word processor.

If your primary requirement is to do calculations, use a spreadsheet

If your primary requirement is to keep records (especially thousands of records), use a database

If your primary requirement is to create many different presentations of the same data, use a database
